Dwellwell

As part of Eskild Hansen Design Studio we were aproached by home sensing and AI analytics platform Dwellwell, to help them map, conceptualize and build a holistic digital experience for their innovative plug&play hardware products.

I worked closely and fully integrated with Dwellwell's product and management teams, across multiple time zones.

thumb2-1

Dwellwell is a next-generation home sensing and AI analytics platform. It helps property managers address small, hidden maintenance issues before they turn into larger, more expensive problems.

To do so, they use these hardware devices, that plug into a home's outlets.

dnode-1

dNode
The devices you plug into the rooms you'd like to monitor.

dHub-1

dHub
The device that acts as a hub for all data coming in and out of all dNodes.

Across nearly 3 years of collaboration, I've contributed in a number of areas

(Web)

• Co-designed the initial IA (information architecture)
• Co-designed the Plumbing page
• Co-designed the Electricity page
• Co-designed the visuals and flow for replacing an Air filter
• Co-designed a flow for adding/removing appliances
• Mapped and co-designed "Auth0" sign-up/log-in flows
• Designed charts and data visualizations across the board
• Designed feedback states in the UI for when devices go On/Off
• Co-engineered a logic for pattern-based alerts

(Mobile)

• Initial sketches and IA design
• User journey and UI for the OOBE (out-of-box experience)
• Created a style guide
• Interactive prototypes for internal testing
• Data visualizations for data parameters (e.g. Temperature)
• Worked with front-end devs for a successful implementation

(Other)

• Conducted research (UX of AI, competitors, etc.)
• Interviewed internal stakeholders
• Created internal presentations
• Facilitated workshops

So How Might We
design a digital experience that

1. Demonstrates product market fit
2. Onboards users in a guided and supportive manner
3. Allows for easy data exploration and provides meaningful alerts

Here's how

How Might We design a digital experience that

1. Demonstrates product market fit

Understanding the brief. Initially, the company's focus was proving market fit (pre-seed round). Thus, to demonstrate capabilities, me—together with the Dwellwell team—started by mapping out a helicopter view of the "ultimate" digital experience. This would help us get an overview of the all customer touchpoints, and inherently narrow our focus on the ones with most impact.

Narrowing down the goal. Design a simple, but impressive mobile app, that demonstrates all product capabilities to a dual target audience — potential users & seed investors.
